Going Green in Texas
Has Never Been Easier
We’re on a mission to change how energy companies in Texas offer power to consumers like you. How? We’re building utility-scale solar farms in the Lone Star State that diversify the Texas energy grid (run by ERCOT, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas), strengthen renewable energy infrastructure and drive demand for even more renewable energy sources.
Let’s create a brighter future — together!
100% Texas Solar Power
— No Panels Required
Despite what you might have heard, switching from conventional power to a green electricity plan in your home does NOT mean investing in expensive equipment such as solar panels. Using green energy in your house works just like traditional power. As long as you’re connected to the power grid, you can use clean energy to power your home.
Your chariot awaits! We offer plans across all four Texas Transmission and Distribution Service Providers (TDSPs) — CenterPoint Energy, AEP Texas, Oncor Electric Delivery and Texas-New Mexico Power. Enter your ZIP code to find out what plans we offer in your area.
How Green Electricity
Works in Texas
If you’re interested in purchasing a green electricity plan for your home, it’s important to understand how Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) work. These credits represent all renewable electricity on the market today — including the solar power Chariot Energy and our affiliates generate!
Without these credits, you couldn’t tell if the power you purchase is green or not. 100% green Texas electricity plans like the ones we offer at Chariot allow you to confidently claim you are a true consumer of clean, green power.
Each SREC denotes one megawatt hour (1 MWh or 1,000 kilowatt-hours) of electricity that renewable energy generators add to the grid. When you choose a 100% green electricity plan, you’re telling your Retail Electricity Provider (REPs) to purchase these credits on your behalf. With a renewable energy plan from Chariot, you directly invest in the solar energy sector in Texas and lower your carbon footprint by offsetting the demand for fossil fuel power.
